when is it appropriate to use luster dust dry and when should you mix it with liquid?
I've encountered some issues both ways, just looking for some opinions

To me, when you mix the luster dust with alcohol or extract it gives you a darker stronger color than just dusting it dry.

I agree with TexasSugar. Plus when it is mixed with the alcohol, you have a bit more control as to where it goes and what kinds of things you can do with it. I like using it both ways; it just depends on what look I am going for. icon_wink.gif

We used luster dust in my chocolate class at school for chocolate. You can use it both ways dry or with alcohol. To use it dry we just simply painted it into the chocolate molds with a dry soft brush. We then used white tempered chocolate and poured it into the molds to set. It gave the chocolate a light luster color and looked really nice. To use it with alcohol we applied it after the chocolate was set and popped out of the molds. We just painted it onto the chocolates to add a metalic shine. I used a copper color to add shine to the chocolate masks that we created.

I used dry luster dust on my molded chocolates on my fish cake. I liked the way it turned out!

After dry dusting, steam the whole thing and it will shine evenly icon_smile.gif
