I have a bride that is doing an 1850 theme wedding. Her dress is in yellow like Bell on the Beauty and the Beast. Her location at an 1847 hotel, that is very nice. Anyone know or have researched the era on the types, styles, of wedding cakes? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

This is probably more than you ever wanted to know, but it's all I could find, so far:

Still looking for photos of the cakes.

Thank you Jan H for the info, I was pretty sure that the cake would be ornate, and almost positive it would have to be fruit cake, not sure if this gal wants to go to the extreme on this, since fruit cake is not as popular asit was. There are some cakes in the old Wilton Yearbooks that are very ornate with BC, I like the idea of ornate, I get tired of doing the real plain wedding cakes.

And IF you had a PAN big enough, what size must the OVEN be - and how long would it take to BAKE.

Plus they didn't have the flower nail trick....
