Do you think it's feasible to make a purse cake out of one recipe of cake? I would like to try one for practice and don't want to waste a lot of supplies.

most definately, I used one cake mix and made a 10 in round cake, cut it in half and folded it over so the flat sides became the bottom of the purse and the rounded edge the top of the purse. picture in my photos.

Sure if you make it small. I don't see why not. What kind of purse are you doing?

yup! i did this one (original design by christeena here on cc) with half a recipe (one 6" square pan) ...maybe it was less. of course it would depend a little on the style you want to do and if its upright, but yes, you could adjust the size just for practice, easily, just determine which pan size you want to bake in and cut your recipe from there.
