Ok so I have a wonder mold cake due for Saturday. How do you get the wave look from the dress so it's not flat?

If you are using fondant, you can place tapered logs under to create the folds.

are you talking about buttercream or fondant?
For buttercream you can use the 104 tip and pipe the same as you would for a zig-zag, with the thin edge of the tip away from the cake.

if you are using fondant for the dress, first ice with buttercream, then roll tapered strips of fondant. attach the thin end to the waist, the thick end to the bottom. then add fondant for the dress on top of that. smooth and add detail.
