I am a mix person. I generally purchase butter flavor and add whatever I need to get the cake I want. However, I cannot get the richness of devil's food.

I have tried adding melted chocolate and cocao, but I don't know what to try from here.
I use the extender that adds a cup of sugar and flour, 3 eggs, 1/4 cup oil, pudding, sour cream, and additional flavoring.

Any suggestion on turning a butter mix to devil's food?
TIA

When I mix a devil's food cake, I use the mix, 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup oil, and four eggs. I love the way it tastes because the sour cream makes it very moist.

thanks for the replies, if I can't find a way to turn my regular mix, I will have to try those

I am really wanting to add something to my regular butter mix to make it a devil's food. Any ideas on how?
