Someone is requesting a sheet cake. I've made them at home before. A very thin, brownie like cake. Is this what they mean? If so, how do you get it out of the pan with it being so large & thin?
My idea of a sheet cake just means they want a rectangle shaped cake. It should still be as high as other cakes, I use 3" pans, but they come in 2" as well. I don't believe they are typically torted. but I think that's personal preferance.

Oh, Ok - just a regular rectangular cake. (How embarassing).
I've done sheet cakes in the past for wedding receptions...when the wedding cake isn't enough to serve everyone. The nice thing about them is they aren't as time consuming as the wedding cake. slap some filling in the middle, some icing on top, some piping decorations to make it look good and bam you are done. And I've always been in the kitchen where the sheet cakes aren't on display...guest only see the cake once it is sliced, on a plate, and on the cake table.
You can find a wilton sheet cake pan anywhere wilton is sold. Good Luck!
Each sheet cake serves about 50 people if you cut it right.
