That is absolutely gorgeous!

I agree, I think that you should put a couple of dog bones around the rug!

Well Done!

maybe a dog toy like a ball or a water dish with blue jello in it. Your rug is fantastic!!

I agree - a blue bow on top of head and some doggie bones or even a ball! Love it!!

I think it needs a collar and dog tag. That would cut down on the length of the neck.

how about putting like, a tennis ball, or a bone right between his two feet! i think that would look really awesome, cuz when dogs catch a bone or ball, they usually sit down and lick or play with it. i think it loooks REALLY good as is!!!

hope that helps icon_biggrin.gif

Oh I saw this in the main page when you first posted it and loved it! I just couldn't get to your picture to say so because CC has been.........um, persnickity today. icon_rolleyes.gificon_lol.gif

I LOVE your little dog! He turned out so cute. Please don't change him. If you feel like something is missing, I agree with previous posters. Maybe a ball or bone. Or a bow on his/her neck might be cute too.

Edited to say: BTW-Is that the 3-D duck pan? That is a BRILLIANT use for it if it is! And if not, then how DID you do your dog?

That is sooooooooooo cute. Can't wait to see what you decided to do. I'm hoping for a ball, or a bone shaped chew toy. You did a great job!

Your doggie is so cute, you did a great job!

Can you put the collar on the doggie? Then give him a ball or a bone would be good. Janice

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

I actually left the cake as is because I didn't end up having any time to add anything.....it's been a busy day!

I also attended the birthday party this was for and everyone loved it.....I do agree I should have put a dog bone or toy or something in front of him/her.

hockeygirl: Yes, this was the 3D duck pan. I got the idea from Partiesrus and freddy. I wish I had the talent to carve it myself!

ShirleyW: You are so right about the neck (that's what I didn't like about the whole cake, that and I still can't get my icing smooth enough!) but I thought the collar would emphasize it, that's why I put it beside the cake. This cake actually discouraged me quite a bit. I was also watching a cake challenge on the food network in between and got discouraged because my cakes don't look like theirs! I guess for just starting out last year, I'm not doing too bad....???? Could be better though!

Thanks for all of your opinions I really appreciate it!

Tammy

I like the collar and name tag idea. I also think you could add the toy(s) and bone.

Sorry I never got back to you on how I did my puppy cake things have been crazy around here and as usual I just found this post too late !!!! I think the puppy turned out cute though he reminds me of a Scottie Dog. I added a food bowl to mine just using a mini bundt pan and icing it then filling it with chopped brown, gold, and burgundy M&Ms and Skor bits. I cut off the beak and added a muzzle made from an oval piece of cake ( mine was from a mini Bowling Pin pan that I cut the bottom from) and I cut the tip of the tail off and added the top of the bowling pin cake to increase the tail height. I used a red foot candy from 7-11 and cut off the toes and attached a toothpick to it to insert into the mouth area, making the back end of the foot into a tongue. My eyes were Junior Mints. Other embellishments were done with white chocolate. I wasn't happy with the way my tassels turned out or my smoothing either, I guess we are never satisfied. Sorry I never got back to you sooner maybe this will help another time, and i still think yours is adorable as a Scottie puppy and I LOVE the rug idea and the colors of it and the border and writing !!! Don't get discouraged your doing great !!!! I do OK on the 3D stuff and the creativity aspect but those darn flowers and basic cakes give me nightmares !!!

What your cake needs is a plate, a fork, a tall glass of milk, and me!
It is absolutely adorable, and looks very yummy, too.

I see what you're seeing about it missing something, although I think it looks great. You seem to be seeing alot of white, and want to add more color, right? I like the idea of a bow, or a toy or two. Just don't use anymore white, and you'll get the look you're going for. Just my opinion.
