Does anyone use these for cakes? I was given two sets of these for wedding gifts that are still in the box. I was thinking of getting rid of them since they take up room i need.

I have never used glass pans. I also don't own any. Sorry, no help from me. But I'd like to know too. So I'll keep watching!

if I'm just making some cornbread with dinner or a quick cake for after dinner that I just leave in the pan.......I prefer metal

I use glass pans for most of my cakes. I find it easier to get the cakes out of glass pans than the metal ones and I've never had a problem with them so I keep using them.

I have used glass, and they perform well. My only issue with them is that they don't have really square corners. They are rounded quite a bit. I mostly use mine for casseroles.

I used to have a glass baking pan. I liked using it because the food seemed to cook evenly. But, with glass you do have to be careful of the temperature change. I took the roasting pan out of oven and mistakenly put it on top of my washing machine (small house and wash/dry are in my kitchen; hate that) anyway, by placing it on the cool surface it cracked within seconds. Had to throw it out. I should have put it on towel or a trivet. But I was trying to do too many things and was rushing. Don't want to scare you but I just wanted to let you know.
