I got my first paid order today! A lingerie shower cake (tasteful, not tacky) for this Saturday and then the rehearsal dinner cake in two weeks to serve 100-150. I'm psyched!

I'm think of doing a pretty lace bra for the lingerie shower.

I'd love some ideas for the rehearsal cake. The mom said she wanted something sortof silly/crazy, like the bride dragging the groom down the aisle. But she said whatever I wanted was fine, to use my imagination!

Any ideas? I want it to be clever and funny and to wow them all at the same time! That's not asking too much, is it? icon_smile.gif

Congratulations on your first paid order. (The first of many, judging from your gallery.)

The bra/lingerie top sounds lovely. Will you be doing this in fondant?

Don't have any experience in the rehearsal cake area, but I think your imagination is up to it! (Loved your gravedigger cake icon_eek.gif )

If you have a Spencer Gifts and some Walmarts carry plastic cake toppers of the groom down on all fours and the bride stamding beside him holding the leash, they have the bride and groom and he has the ball and chain around his foot and a few others that are really cute. For my wedding my mom made a stack cake that looked like a mini wedding cake with the crazy cake topper. I loved it!!!

Do you know the couple that is getting married very well? Do you know if they are serious type people or fun/funny types? Or maybe they are even hilariously crazy funny icon_surprised.gif Do they have any hobbies that would make the cake fun and funny? Favorite colors? Any kids involved in this wedding and joining of the bride and groom?

I haven't done too many cakes yet, but I think it's always fun to make it as personal as possible. I think that's what REALLY makes people go "AWWWWW, what a great cake !!!" And they will remember it forever!!

Good luck...let us know how it turns out and we want pictures !!! YOu go, girl !!

I learned the both like the band KISS so I came up with the idea of doing a KISS cake using the phrase "You may KISS the bride," in that KISS lettering. This should be interesting!

Here's what I did for the lingerie shower.

Thank you so much!

For the tissue paper I rolled out a piece of white MMF, then put some icing jars underneath to create the waves. Caution: Make sure the outside of the bottles are clean, one left yellow smudges on my fondant!

Let the whole thing dry in front of a fan for two days, then lightly painted with water and sprinkled on clear edible sparkles. You can never have too many sparkles!

If I had it to do over again (don't we say that with every cake? icon_smile.gif, I would have let it dry on the top of the cake pan so I could have molded the drape over the edge, plus left the tissue paper flat where it went under the top cake. I had to trim it a lot, plus it cracked in two places when I put the second cake on top.
