... A freiend of my Mother's has asked me to make her wedding cake. I havve never made one before. I have several questions.
1. I make cake for fun and not a business, yet, is it okay to make a wedding cake?

2. She wants it November 11 or 12th is this enough time?

3. I haven't seen the kind of cake she wants. My Mom said it is just white.

4. She doesn't know how many people are coming because she doesn't know how many people are on her guest list. Would y'all maek a cake for this person?

Any help would be wonderful.

1) should be fine...i wouldnt worry too much about it

2)it's probably enough time if you dont have other commitments

3)thats a problem...a white cake can be 5 tiers fondant with white gumpaste flowers and a whole bunch of other stuff, or a simple 3 tier buttercream cake, or a slab cake, or a 4 tier round and square alternating tiers with basketweave...u get my point...get more details before u say yes

4)i'd make the cake just get a rough estimate of how much cake she wants...i'm sure she knows roughly, theres going to be 50-75 ppl...or 300-400 ppl...she has to have a rough estimate

She has waited kind of late to order a cake. And if she doesn't know how many will be at her wedding, I say what the heck go ahead. If she hasn't put more planning than that into it? Go ahead the experience will be good for you.

She wants all buttercream with buttercream roses. However she is very unorgainzed and doesn't even have a church reserved yet. She doesn't really know what she doing to plan a wedding.

I haven't done a wedding cake before any suggsetions on how to make it go smoothly?

I am assuming since she doesn't have many details that this is a last minute thing. I think that you will be fine.

The only thing to worry about is the venue. If it is at a actual hall, some of them require a liscence before they will let you set up. So have her check that. If it is at a church or park or somehting, you should be fine!

THere are lots of great ideas here. I made my first stacked cake and it was really easy, it's in my pics. Everyone here will help you through too!
