Anyone w/ fondant experience, please help me. I have Satin Ice fondant and am using it to put fondant circles and stripes on a BC covered cake. After you cut out the shapes, how do you get them onto the cake without them stretching? Or if this isn't possible, how do you keep the circles round? Thank you for ANY input you can give me!!

roll them out on a matt so that you can pick up the whole matt and peal it off the back of the fondant. It will also help if you let the fondant set up alittle bit before picking up.

I would recommend that you let them sit for a while to get firm so that you can handle them without stretching. I say at least 30mins or an hour if you have the time to spare.

You can also use cornstarch on the mat, applied with a poof so that it is just a dusting. To help fondant dry, mix a pinch of gumtex into the fondant when you are kneading it. Finally, make sure you do not roll out the fondant too thin; the thinner it is the more flexible and stretchy cut out become in my experience.

Do I cut them out and let them sit out in the air, I mean w/o covering them? Thank you for the tips!

yes, just out in the open...or if you want, a little piece of waxed paper to cover top. you don't want to enclose it or it will stay soft.

Yes, you can let fondant cut outs sit out without covering them. I've made fondant letters and stars for a birthday cake (see the Princess cake in my gallery). I cut those out and let them sit for about 15 minutes before I set them on the cake.
