I am a newbe here.I love this site I have gotten so many idea's!!! I started decorating cake when my kids were small ,i did so many different ones when they were young,but i have kinda let it go,but now my youngest is turning 16 and i want to do a real pretty cake for her birthday party,and i am out of practice....so here's the thing..
I want to make a 3 tiered cake...the like the one on the fron of wiltons "Decorate to Celebrate book"..nw it has one large skinny square,then a smaller taller square,then some other shape...
i only have small square cake pans...so for the larger one i thought of useing a roaster pan, and for the middle..i might use a round spring form pan, then the top im not sure...any idea's? I am going to have to look around on this site for how much batter to use and such...but I am really worried about the middle not getting done, and I dont have a core{which i just learned about fron cc} but I did see something about using a flower nail and I have one of those! But i dont know what to do with it...and will it work?I am going to try to do a rolled butter cream to cover the cakes with{i have never done that either} I just dont want this cake to be ugly...any suggestion would be great...but i really need to know about the nail thing...

And THANK YOU,THANK YOU THANK YOU...I am so greatfull....I had never heard about the nail trick before...but then again I didnt know there was site like this..its so exciting...I use to LOVE to decorate cakes for for my kids and I am so excited to do this one for my Babys "Sweet 16"..I read the neatest post on here yesterday , about all these tricks people use, and I am going to be trying a few out! I really think I am going to like this site. So thank you again..say a little prayer for me that my cake turns out....lol..Im going to surprise her with it I am even going to my mom-in-laws to do it..heehee Im so sneaky..anyway..have a great day and i really do apreciate you answering my ??.
