I am making a cake for the Navy Ball next week! It is a big deal and I'm sure I could stir up some new business with this cake. I'm so excited but should I go wiith a flat cake that is simple to cut or pull out all the stops and do something new and exciting?

i'd say pull out all of the stops! i've never been to a navy ball but i've been to our high school's air force ball (don't remember what they called it) and everything was so formal and elegant so i would say that a tiered cake would fit in so much more than anything really basic and plain.

check out the gallery and look at military cakes or search for navy. Cakemommy has done some awesome cakes for the navy, and I have done a few for the Coast Guard. Check them out and you will get some great ideas.

I think you should go all out and maybe do a tiered cake since the Navy Ball is such a big deal.
