I'm not sure but it sounds like you might be overmixing your icing and Ithink that whips too much air into the icing. Maybe there are other ideas out there!

Sometimes air bubbles will happen after a cake has sat and settles. airmay havebeen trapped between the layers and it has to go somewhere. THey are easy to get rid of in most cases. All you have to do is take a toothpick and poke a few holes in the bubble and push it back in. I like to go back over the area with a Viva towel or wax paper to make sure the icing is stuck back to the cake well. Sometimes you'll have to scrap all of the icing off and start over, but not all of the time.

I hope this helps you.

Sometimes there are air bubbles in the icing because you may have beaten your icing at too high a speed for too long...it has happened to me.
I don't know if that is the problem or not...
If it is the problem, then all you have to do is not beat the icing longer or at a higher speed than what is specified in the recipe...there is a pretty good search tool on the forums also and that might be a helpful place to look as well...it is a wealth of information!
If the air bubbles are definitely forming afterwards, then I am sure some other CC'er can help.
Good luck
