I was browsing the Wilton website ( http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=4BD856D4-802D-F658-02A787D3CB120535 ) and saw this statement on the page with the cupcake stand: Due to the abuse of our return policy, returns will only be accepted for defective merchandise.
Do you think that people are treating cupcake stands (and other items) like some used to do (or maybe still do) with formalwear (wedding, prom, etc)...... people buying it for the one-day use, keeping the tags and then returning it the next day?
With some people, I wouldn't put it past 'em.
I don't know what the abuses have been, but it gets sad when the actions of a few hurt everyone.
Return policies are made and enforced for thieves and cheaters but only affect honest people like myself They continue to evade those policies somehow. I think is nuts. My Aunt used to take the red tags off clearance clothes and stick them to regular priced clothes I was only like 13 years old didn't know any better back then but one day she got caught and I know realize she was not fooling anyone the cashiers know what is not on clearance! Dishonest people are the worst
I was in Hobby Lobby one day, and took the single Wilton satellite cake stands out of the box to see how they were made since they were so cheap (styrofoam....that's why!)
Anyway, there was cake and icing all over the stands and plates, yuck!!
You would think that if someone had the guts to pull this off, they would at least clean them up!
I have had to return a few things because someone else had used them first and returned them. Yuck...I had a friend that boasted that she could return anything - no matter how old or used it was. She never understood that it was basically the same as stealing and disgusting!!
It's unfortunate retailers have to have policies like this because there are dishonest people out there. There are several items I have wanted to order but when I see the 'no returns' policy, I skip the item (one can't always tell from a website the quality and I don't want to get stuck with junk).
