Bubbles In Our Finished Icing!! Help!

For some unknown reason we are getting air bubbles on the top of our finished cake. We are getting them when using both our regular buttercream and our meringue based buttercream. We have used both recipes many times without trouble, but since using a new mixer we have had these darn air bubles pop up. It would make a GREAT "moon surface" cake! ![]()
Any help, tips, suggestions???? THANKS A MILLION!
(and yep...the cakes are cold when iced)
I've had this problem too! I read on cc that it's caused by mixing the icing too fast! So, maybe the new mixer is faster than your old one? I have to put our KA on the slowest speed for me not to get the air bubbles, it takes a while, but at least it gets rid of the bubbles! HTH!

It really works. I always mix my frosting on a higher speed than everyone says you should because it makes it lighter and more delicious... and then I use my roller to get rid of any air bubbles. Try it and let me know if it helps!
My old mixer died in the middle of a wedding cake 2 months ago. DH ran out and picked up a new one for me (he is my knight in shining armour). Since then, I've had all kinds of trouble with bubbles. I turned it on for the first time, and, Wow! talk about speed!
anyway I came to one conclusion, since I didn't really have a problem with bubbles before:
more power=bubbles
I'm in the same boat. It just means a lot more time spent smoothing ![]()
