I have my first cake due out Thursday. This is just a budding hobby for me so I don't know when it is ok to start. I have two small (under two, boys) children and so don't have much time to spend at one time.

My question is What day should I:
Make icing
Make Fondant
Bake cakes
Ice cake
Decorate

You can bake and freeze your cake layers now.
Icing can be make and stored days ahead.
Fondant improves with at least 24 hour rest, so make that early also.

Defrost cake layers night before you want to decorate.

Allow ample time to decorate!
