Question for all you experienced decorators- can you put a color flow decoration into or onto buttercream? I see them in pictures here but I'm pretty sure I heard that you shouldn't do that. icon_confused.gif

Of course you can. Why would we make it if you couldn't actually use it on icing?

If you are worried about the buttercream breaking it down (an over rated worry) you can prop it off the icing with sugar cubes or marshmallows. You can also place it on the day the cake will be eaten and not the night before.

I've never had any problems with it on buttercream or on fondant (I roll my fondant out on crisco).

Thanks TexasSugar. I was wondering about it myself. Why make all these pretty things if you can only use them on fondant? I think it was the melting issue. I'm remembering someone saying 'buttercream eats colorflow'. Of course I could have dreamed it. icon_confused.gif
