For those of you who fill your cakes with whipped ganache, do you frost the layer (like a crumb coat) before you put the whipped gananche as your filling?

Thanks,

I usually just make a dam with buttercream around the edge and then fill it with just the ganache. Once I spread a thin layer of raspberry preserves on the layer and then put the ganache on top. It was delicious. I'm sure you could put a layer of BC on the layer and then top with ganache if you wanted...

I usually put a thin layer of buttercream, crumb coat, then a dam and then add my filling. Let the cake settle for several hours before you finish it and you'll have fewer problems the the "bulge".
