I have some numbers & letters cell formers. They are great. Just roll out your fondant "very thin" and then press the former (letter) you want and then pop it out of the form and you have a perfect letter to put on your cake.
And a gem cutter is much the same...I have the butterfly one but have yet to use it.
Hope this helps.....

Jem and "cel" are both brand names and both are from the UK.
Jem make a huge range of sugarpaste/gumpaste cutters, mainly for various flowers.
"cel formers" are just flower formers made of a lightweight, styrofoam type of stuff. The various shapes are designed to help dry your gumpaste flowers to a correct shape.
To be honest, I think the Jem flower and leaf cutters are a little expensive - you can get excellent ones a lot cheaper. They do have some lovely lace cutters, though.
The cel formers, IMHO, are a waste of money. You can use all sorts of things you already have around the house, such as egg cups, liqueur glasses, patty pan tins (those little rounded ones) apple trays from the greengrocer and even make your own out of tin foil, crumpled to the shape you need. Also, crumpled tissue paper, cling wrap - pretty much anything, dusted with cornstarch!

Another alternative is to buy just one set of the Cel formers and use lightweight aluminum foil to get the shape so you have multiple flower formers.

Oops! I was thinking of the "tappit" not cell formers. icon_redface.gif
Guess I should have just gone to bed after work instead of getting on the computer at that hour ! icon_razz.gif
Anyway, I love my "tappits", well woth ordering.
