I cannot find the Vanilla/Chai Coffeemate in my grocery store, but I bought the General Foods International Chai Latte tea mix and I'm going to try my next cake with that. I figure you are just adding a flavour so it should be okay.

Has anyone tried this before? Did it work? icon_surprised.gif

I've used the international foods Mocha cappuccino stuff in a cake.........it was delicious.......it's not a super strong flavor though so I added about 4 tblsp. I don't see why the chai tea wouldn't work......is it like an instant thing where you stir it with hot water??? If so I don't see why not!!

i found the vanilla chai coffemate in my superwalmart. i wanted to taste it so i made coffee lastnight and put some in it. its not something i like in my coffee but i will try it in the next cake i make.

-can you put it in any flavor cake or just white?
-what kind of fillings would be good with the coffeemate vanilla chai?
-how much do you add to the batter and do you have to add extra liquid to even it out?

My DH just called and said he found the Vanilla Chai Flavour at Stop and Shop. He is fabulous (apparently he bought both the powdered and liquid versions so I think I'm going to be baking a lot this weekend icon_biggrin.gif ).

I will probably try the vanilla chai flavour with a caramel filling, a plain buttercream filling. An apple filling might be nice as well. When my DH smelt the flavour he said it smelt more like caramel than chai. I cannot wait to get home and try some icon_rolleyes.gif

So far I've only tried mixing the coffee mate flavours with white cake mix. I think you would lose the flavours in a chocolate cake mix. It might pair up nicely with a yellow cake mix (but I've never tried that combination yet).

If you are using the powdered version, add 2 TBSP to your cake mix (along with your other ingredients). If you are using the liquid version, replace part of your water with the equivalent in coffee-mate. I'm not sure how much liquid coffee-mate to use, but if you search here in the forums under coffee-mate I know the answer is posted somewhere. If I find the answer I will post it for you.

Good luck thumbs_up.gif

Most people on CC it appears when using the liquid Coffeemate replace 1/4 cup of the water called for in the recipe on the cake box with 1/4 cup of the coffeemate.

I have not tryed the coffee creamer chai, but I have add chai flavoring to my chocolate and white cakes by mixing 2t. fennel, 2t clove, 1T cardamom, 2t cinnamom, 2t ginger mix them all together then add 2T of the mixer in your cake when you add your flour. You can also add this mixture of spices to your buttercream to get a chai buttercrean flavor. It is really good mixed with creamcheese filling also.

I made a chai cake by brewing really strong chai tea, just with the tea bags and water, and using that tea as as the liquid in the cake recipe. Yum Yum Yum.

That's not mine originally, someone else posted the idea here recently, but I cannot find the thread! Sorry!
