Does anyone use airbrushing on their cakes? I was wondering if it is possible to use a regular airbrush gun with the edible airbrush colorings... and is it possible to create your own edible paint for the gun? There is no where in my area to buy the airbrush colorings without ordering them from the internet.

I know that a regular air brush gun will work the question is the compressor you use. You do not want one with a very high psi it will blow holes in your icing. There are many alternatives to an expensive air brush kit. I have read that some people on this site use a nebulizer for a compressor. I got the idea for mine on this site also, I went to wal-mart and they have a airbrush and compressor set in the model car section of the toy department for about $60. If you decide to use a seperate compressor you can purchase an air brush from your local craft store and if you have a coupon you can get it for 40% off. As for making your own color I don't know much about that I just purchase mine online. I hope this helps.

That definitely helps quite a bit. I will see what I can find. I don't know what a nebulizer is, but my husband is going to be the one figuring this out any way so I will pass this info along. Thanks

A nebulizer is what they use to give breathing treatments for asthmatics or other people with breathing problems. I would have never thought of that idea. I have 3 of them here at home. (all 3 kids have asthma). Thanks for the idea pattycakes.
