I've looked through the cookie gallery and noticed that some members use fondant on their cookies.

How does it taste with fondant? Do you use the cookie cutter to cut the fondant in the same shape as the cookie?

I use the MMF from the recipes, then use Anotinia's for accents/outlines. MMF tastes great--I add almond and vanilla extract. I cute out the fondant first, then the cookie dough with the same cutter. When the cookies come out of the oven, I immediately put the fondant cutout on t he cookies. It kinda melts it on.

How do you add the flavoring? Do you knead it in like you would coloring or add it when the marshmallows are melted? I really want to try decorating cookies, this method sounds great!

Thanks cakeatopia. I may try this method too since I have left over fondant from Saturday.

I use the flavoring as the "water". I put the mm in the cup, add the flavoring or water and heat. If I only need 1 color, I will also put the gel color in the same cup. Otherwise you knead the color into it. I have also put the gel coloring in when I was using the KA to mix it all together.

I just used MMF to decorate cookies for the first time this weekend, and I absolutely LOVE it! I cut out the MMF with the cookie cutter and popped them in the fridge while the cookies were baking. (That was they were a little hard and much easier to pick up and place on the cookie.) I put the MMF on the cookes as soon as they came out of the oven, and it worked perfectly! My only suggestion would be to roll out your MMF pretty thin. I think mine were a little too thick.

Another great item - the Wilton Fondant Writers. I got some at Michael's and added a little detailing to my cookies with that. It almost like that "puffy paint" but it's fondant and dries firm too. These were so easy and fun. Can't wait to do it again!!!
