Oh man...I love this stuff!

I have a 50th anniversary cake due this weekend. I was attempting to make BC roses last night using a new recipe. I was so frustrated that I was about to chuck my demented-looking roses out to the wildlife. I swear I added more than a cup extra of powdered sugar to this recipe and it was STILL too thin icon_mad.gif .

So...looking for an alternative, I checked my stock of RI roses. I had almost 2 dz of white, white w/ lemon yellow centers / ivory / white with ivory centers.

Mixing gold luster dust with vodka (dh thought my roses were driving me to drink icon_biggrin.gif ) I painted the rims of all the flowers.

The look so cool thumbs_up.gif .

I'll have a pic of them after the weekend, but I'm very proud of how they turned out.

I've also decided I'm never doing BC roses again. Only RI, until I take the plunge and learn how to do fondent roses.

Oh I'm glad you posted this! For some reason I'm afraid of this stuff after reading all the posts on luster dust (and I've already bought several jars). Maybe I'll get brave and play with it over the weekend - or perhaps a few swigs of vodka will help.
