Oh Dear!!! that's just awful from her part. Your cake was obviously a hit, and really does she really think her opinion matters?! the cake was not meant for her.
All your cakes are truly awesome!! so creative and talented.

Darlin? Who is she Zsa Zsa Gabor?

I think it's ridiculous how she acted like she was letting you in on some big secret...."hate to be the one..." Haha. Woman, please. It amazes me how rude some people can be. It's one thing if you have issues with food but it's another for you to say it in such a rude manner. For someone to be in such a foul mood at what sounds like a fabulous party, they are just foul in general, all the time.

Your cake was Wonderful! Take people like her with a grain of salt....and some lime and tequila. icon_razz.gif

She is right, it didn't look like a cake. What an incredible work of art! All your cakes (looked at your pics) are just amazing! I wish I had half that talent. Perhaps she is one of those "if it isn't store bought...." kind of people who have no appreciation for anything outside the box (or sheet pan).
You must think of a snappy comeback, as you may just see her again.
Keep doing what you're doing, you have an amazing talent. Don't let some snoot like her get you down. Some people have lava rocks for brains, ya know?

I know this is really ignorant on my part, but I too have wondered how people eat those beautifully elaborate cakes. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE them and hope to make them one day, but what happens to all of the fondant "accessories"? They just go in the garbage???? And the cake themselves look too small to feed a party sometimes. Just asking. icon_wink.gif

OH DEAR....I may be wrong Berl in saying this as I hate to upset anyone but ...... first its called creativity, second, the ladies who make all these wonderful creations KNOW how many they feed, sorry to sound blunt but I know how much all the people worry about the mechanics of it all but still manage to produce the wonderful cakes that they do

Berl, the first question I ask is: How many people are you expecting at this event? Then, I go from there. The cake of which we are speaking (in this forum) was a 1/2 sheet cake with the whole Tiki Bar being cake too! It fed approx. 65 people. More cake than you think.

However, I made an Enchanted Tree Cake that was only for 10-15 guests. So, it's important to find out who's coming, first!

In regards to eating the fondant "accessories" - Yes! Most of them end up in the garbage, but...I have been at events where I see people (mostly children) walking around with a fondant item and munching on it. It takes all kinds! icon_lol.gif

The cake is wonderful.
As for the lady maybe you should have returned with: "I hate to be the one to tell you but your mom forgot to teach you manners."
Why would you care if she can't eat it anyway? Was she going up and telling whoever cooked the other food that they didn't cook it the way she liked it or they cut it wrong?
SOunds like she's either jealous or a little full of herself.

I agree with all your comments. Thanks for making me feel better. To me, the whole point and reason a person would request a cake from me is because it DOESN'T look like a usual cake, ya know??

Someone's mama forgot to teach her any manners, it sounds like. Life is too short to be mean. If you can't be nice, keep your mouth shut.

The cake is stunning. I bet the birthday boy loved it.

It sounds to me like somebody has a case of the "green eyed flu". Don't be discouraged by such a small-minded person with no manners. Your cakes are incredible. Keep on creating your works of art. thumbs_up.gif

Unfortunately there are people in this world that are bland with no imagination, creativity or manners! Just ignore her, she is obviously missing some important elements...... Keep up the good work. Your cake was great.
