I've only done the royal icing thing a few times. Now, I have a Wedding Cake due Saturday that needs off white royal icing (almost ivory). Do I just add some vanilla extract with my liquid to make it that color? Or would that mess up the royal icing?

If I can't get it to work, I have the option of buttercream (hey...it's my sisters cake and it's FREE to her icon_lol.gif ). But, I really would like to build up some of the piping and I think the royal would hold up better. The cake she pulled off the internet and wants is done with royal. Any help with the tinting would be great!! Thanks so much.

BTW, the royal icing is the premix (just add water) from CK.

use the vanilla to replace some of the water. If you use 1 tsp of vanilla, put one less tsp of water.

You can also use a drop of ivory coloring to it.

I often add vanilla flavoring to my royal icing and it doesn't change anything, just add a bit less water.
