I'm having some cards printed out with a picture of my cake on it and the woman doing them sent me a proof with the picture adjusted so the cake is a bit taller. It looks much better but I'm worried people will be disappointed when they get the real cake and see it is more squat than the picture. How do I get the tiered cakes to be taller and more elegant? The tiers are already about 4 inches tall. I could add another layer I guess but then they would be over 5 inches tall and that would mess up my number of servings chart and wouldn't they be a pain to cut? I guess I'm trying to work this out in my head. If anyone has suggestions I'd like to hear them.

you can add some size with your filling. other than that i don't know. my cakes are 4" also. but here's a bump for you.

i agree the taller tiered cakes do look nice. But i dont think it will actually change your number of servings cause one can hardly cut anything smaller then a 1x2 anyway. so with that you would have to raise your base price on your per serving for the 5" tall cake. just another option your brides can pick from.

I just made a creamcheese icing carrot cake that is 7" tall I placed a dowel down the centre of it. It is going to be delicious I am sure. Nice tall thin slivers for servings as it is very rich. It is our families Thanksgiving dessert.
