I wanted to know if anyone knows a good cookie recipe where the cookie doesn't puff up, but it's not too delicate to be decorated on. I have an order for 40 cookies in the shape of a 3-tier wedding cake. I tried the wilton sugar cookie recipe, but it puffs up too big. I need this recipe for this Friday (10/13/06), so could anyone please, please, send me the recipe.

Try the no-fail sugar cookie recipe here on CC. I have never had a problem

Here's a trick. Get the Betty Crocker mix for sugar cookies and use butter flavored Crisco instead of butter/margarine. Normally, I ONLY use butter, but the shortening keeps them from spreading as much and they taste great. It's what I use whenever I make decorated sugar cookies!

I have done several recipes of sugar cookies, and the nfsc works pretty well, they hold their shape and do not puff up like some. Also if you cut the dough real thick there is more cookie to rise. Make sense? Keep your dough consistent and not real thick, that might help.

Toba Garrett has a recipe in her cookie book for a shortbread cookie and it sooooo good. It tastes great, holds it shape well, doesn't puff.
