i made a recipe for a sugar cookie from a you tube video which is:
5 1/2 flour, 3 cups sugar, 4 eggs, 1 pound butter, 1 tbsp vanilla essence and lemon essence. i refrigrated it and now i rooled it out on parchment paper. all looked well. when i inserted the cookie cutter it would'nt come out and i tried to force it out and the dough is stuck every where. i eventually some how got 4 daisy cookie doughs on a baking tray and now they are in the oven and have spread everywhere loseing their shape!!!!what shall i do to save the rest???? icon_cry.gif

Try to get them to roll to about 1/2 inch or a little less. Flour your cutter before you try to cut them out, and chill your dough...before and after cutting. There is a great tutorial on this site about making cookies. I hope you have better luck next try!

Could you have used self rising flour? When I roll out cookies after I cut them out I freeze them for about 15 minutes before putting them into the oven. I read this helps with spreading. Sorry I know this isnt much help.

Is your cutter just an outline shape?

If it's just an outline and it's still sticking, I think you need to mix a little more flour into your recipe. Try just 1/4 cup or so to be sure you don't make it TOO stiff. Mix in carefully and try again. I wouldn't think you should have any problems with the cutter. You'll get it! thumbs_up.gif

The only other guess I may have is the recipe sounds like it has alot of eggs to me. Could your dough just be too wet? You could try PM'ing Antonio74 she is the one who made the tutorial and is very knowledgable (sp?) when it comes to cookies.
