It seems like at one time, pre-cut bakery cake squares were very popular, esp with office parties and such. I just made one for a friend for a walk in party (its nothing special but I did put it in my photo album here) and she had never heard of such a thing. I had to explain it to her a couple of times to make sure she understood what I would be bringing.

Do any of you remember when bakeries would do that, or is it just me? I remember like 6 years ago a customer ordered a Christmas pre-cut cake for an office party...I've also seen people bring pre-cut bakery cakes to break rooms, etc.... but since then I don't even think I've seen them.

Anyone else do these?

(FYI pre-cut cake squares are just sheet cakes that are iced and then cut into squares and then you use borders to cover up the cut parts...so it looks like a whole sheet but you don't need to cut the cake, you just can serve it as people show up wanting a slice.)

Hey kitagrl, I remember them!! I had one for my first baby shower...that was almost 16 years ago. On each square cut, there was a pink bootie and on the next piece was a blue bootie and so on. I have a picture of it packed up here somewhere. It was really cute!

Oh... well, that was before I used my food pen on wax paper transfer method so I just looked at the party plate and drew the design with a toothpick on the icing. I usually had to ice back over it once or twice before I got it right.

I don't remember the pre-cut squares. I think it's a cool idea. Did they go out of "style" or something. icon_confused.gif This is such a wonderful idea for those of us who have issues eating food people might touch. icon_rolleyes.gif
