Anyone tried it? Reviews...comments...anything???

(I'm only asking because one of my vendors sells it and I think I can get it cheaper than Satin Ice, but cheaper isn't good if it's stinky!)

Thanks!

I personally love Pettinice. It's very easy to work with and I haven't experienced any problems with it. Doesn't get stretchy, sticky or dried out before you finish working it.

I like it a lot. I can get it much cheaper because there is a vendor close, so shipping is much less. I haven't tried satin ice, but pettinice tastes good and is easy to work with.

I use to love Pettinice until I opened a ivory colored package that was mislabeled for white. I can't afford those kind of mistakes with my short time.

Now I'm strictly Satin Ice. But I think I am going to start making my own sugarpaste (not MMF, but the original real stuff)..........it's cheaper yet and I know exactly what I will get.

Sorry to ramble....

i used it once when satin ice was on back order. it worked fine for me. i had no complaints about the actual product. my only isse was that it comes in a silver bag like the wilton stuff without a box or a bucket like satin ice so i felt i needed to use it quickly to use it up before it dried up on me. i had only ordered a small amount (2lbs? i think) of it so i don't know how larger portions of it are packaged.

I find that Pettinice is a little harder than Satin Ice so it is more difficult to knead.

Pettinice chocolate is great though - tastes like Tootsie Rolls.

Thanks guys!

Sandra- Larger amounts do come in buckets! I would be buying it in bulk, so that doesn't worry me too much!

Tiptop- I know what you mean about not being able to have mistakes like that happen when you are in a time crunch. With the new pastry shop, I plan on being in one CONSTANTLY! Anyways...I make the real stuff (not MMF) sometimes. My french pastry professor won't let us do it any other way. It's good, but it's still a little unpredictable. You are right...it doesn't get much cheaper than that though!

Thanks again for all your help! I think i'm going to try it!

BTW- If you go to their website they have 15lb buckets for $39 and if you buy 3 you get a 10% discount. It also says there is a discount available for decorators and professionals. With the 10% it's $2.34 a lb, which is pretty cheap!
