I'm making a cake with a wresting ring on it. I'm using licorice for the ropes but I don't know what to use for the posts that hold the ropes any suggestions? please help

Dowels or even gumpaste posts.

Okay, this is OT ---But I am so tired that when I read the title of your post I thought you were actually wrestling your cake assistant! Perhaps I need to head to bed!

If your looking for a completely edible idea what about Pretzel Rods. Just found them in WalMart the other day. I used one to make a broomstick handle on a Halloween cake. They're long and sturdy and could easily be covered in fondant or even possibly frosted.

Just thought I'd share my newest find, I've fallen in love with them.

I made a wrestling ring for my son's b-day, you can see it in my photos. I used wooden dowels and stain them black with Wilton's black gel. Worked out great.
