COmedy of errors here.
Made cookies yesterday and also did the fondant part too.
So today--easy--make royal and detail the cookies, right?
I was adding sugar when dh needed help with kiddos soooo I came back and could not remember how much sugar I had already added so I added more--apparently LOADS more. I was wondering why my KA was sounding tired! I colored and bagged the icing.
Then tried to pipe/outline the cookies and my hand was camping early on and the lines were just not right. Out of the bag and using every mixing thing I had to mix it again. I must have used a few teaspoons for each color. Ugh.
Finally got it right and I think they look pretty good, esp since my soon to be 4y old now says he wants happy faces vs trains--grllll. I was only going to do a Thomas cookie and then decided Thomas would be lonely so I made a green coach to go with it.
Next time...........the kids go outside with dh while I make icing!
And the black is not totally black--was using a bunch of Wilton, bt at this point........I don't care. Wally World cookies were looking awfully nice when I was remixing 5 different colors!
I'll post them--they turned out pretty good considering I this is my 3rd time with NFs and MMF.
Cake next Saturday(Thomas again) and then Fall Festival, then Bunco in November.
I will be ordering Turkey Dinner from Randalls' this year or even yet--travel to inlaws for dinner(now you know I am tired!) lol
At least you made the royal. I made some orchids and dragonflies covered in fondant. Rather than put some nice detailing in royal on the drgaonflies, I extruded the fondant in a toy clay extruder I outher for $1.29. lol. Fondant is hard to extrude.
Here's how they came out. Not real delicate looking, but at least I didn't need to get out the mixer.
Oh Fairytale, I LOVE your cookies! The orchids are gorgeous!!!!!
Those cookies, Fairytale are VERY gorgeous! I love hte pink and yellow together!
I NEVER make royal in a mixer. I always make it by hand. It never takes the same amount of sugar twice so you have to learn to make it by feel to get the correct consistency. A small bowl of royal can be mixed by hand in less than 10 mins so why bother with a mixer?
i can not imagine doing it buy hand...i hate just mixing in the color for each batch...lol...its much more fun to do the decorating part...hehhe
