Can you use a template of some kind and re-trace the circle and then just fill it in so it would be one thick circle? Good luck.

I'm not any expert, but it looks to me like the first thing you need to do is remove as much of the black as possible. After that I guess cut out a new circle of fondant, enough to cover where the black was, either a solid circle to cover the whole top, or a ring to cover just the area that is messed up...then apply your black piping.

Or, I guess you could just cover the top with a layer of white icing, and then pipe your black design.

Sorry, that's about all I can think to do, maybe somebody else will come up with another idea.

Good luck, sorry you are having a problem, that black piping on white would be a problem for me too. Janice

Uh, did you make two threads about this? Because I just replied to the other one...

I think the first thing I would do would be to tear the fondant off, and just start over. I mean the cake can be salvaged, but as far as the fondant goes I think black on white is irreversible. Maybe try that MMF or just buy more. Especially if you are in a hurry. I don't think I would be able to fix it.

A good tip for piping is to pipe your decoration in the same colour as your base coat (so in this case you would pipe a white circle). If it's not right you can remove it without staining your cake. Once your happy use a slightly thinner nozzle to overpipe the decoration in the correct colour. This method is great for writing etc. especially if you're not very good at judging spacing.

I can't help you save the fondant you've got there (I would just toss it and re-cover the cake) but I do have a suggestion for the circles. Since you're using fondant this should be easy. I'm looking at this figuring it's a 10-inch cake. Once you have the fondant on and it's set, take a 9" cake board and center it on top of the cake. Then with a toothpick, very gently drag it around the outside of the cake board, scoring the fondant. Then take an 8" cake board, center it inside the 9" scored circle, and score again in the same way. Then you have a nice faint clean line to pipe over with your black.

Now - if this is an 8" cake, you can do the same thing just use 7" and 6" boards instead.

Good luck!

I just have to ask what does REMO stand for? My maiden name was Riemersma and that was what they called me as a nik name. I have never seen it anywhere else before. I've been around 46 years!
