Delivery Fee?

Do you charge a delivery/set up fee on top of the price of the cake? If so what do you charge for mileage?

I deliver wedding cakes only. Free delivery within a 30 minute drive, based on Mapquest. After that, I charge based on how far out it is, how direct is the route (major highway or lots of backroads), and what mood I'm in at the time.

Usually anything outside 30 minuets has a $50 minimum delivery added on. Remember, I'm paying my staff when they are in the delivery vehicle, so anything over 30 minutes one-way (over 1 hour round trip) is costing me add'l payroll, plus the gas and vehicle expense.

I only deliver wedding cakes and I do charge a delivery fee if they are out of my home town. I usually look at the milage on mapquest and then do a $.50 per mile....per way.....I do not charge a set up fee..
