I haven't ever purchased the cream cheese icing, but the buttercream is $26-$27 per bucket.

Is this available in the Sam's club stores or online? I never knew that Sam's sold this stuff! Thanks for the heads up...

I have gone through two buckets of icing from Sam's and none of my regulars could tell the difference. In fact a family member said one time while eating a piece of cake "you make the best frosting, I could eat it by the spoonfuls". You just have to remember to throw it in a bowl and mix it up good. I also add some additional flavoring depending on the flavor of cake.

You know that greasy, make you go into diabetic shock (even if you don't already have diabetes, lol)
frosting they use at wallymart?
It's the same exact stuff.

My regulars could not tell the difference either. Everyone has said that they love it. It is a bit sweeter than my recipe, but hey, it's less than half the cost of making it myself, and it saves a lot of time!!! I'm on my 3rd bucket, and love it! It's probably what I would consider a thin consistency. It probably would need thickening up if you were planning to do roses, etc. They sell it in the bakery section, it's not on the shelf. You have to ask someone in the bakery for it.

When you go to the Sams bakery, ask for the wholesale list...a few workers had no idea what I was talking about.

no the icing doesnt need to be in the fridge, each bucket has a use by date, it is only sold in the bakery department, not all sam's has a bakery and not all of the employees know about it, in this case talk to a manager. if you can buy their items you can get...

vanilla buttercream
chocolate buttercream
colored buttercream
vanilla whipped(bettercream)
chocolate whipped(bettercream)
whipped colors by the case
cream cheese icing
greman filling
1/2 cake board
1/2 cake packging
12" circle board
12" circle packing
full sheet pad
full sheed box
frosting sheets
premade gumapaste bouquets in lavendar of pink 4 to a box

any other questions pm me

I have a question. Can you also buy their whipped icing they use on some of their cakes? I have tried a ton of recipes and can't even come close. TIA

I love the taste of Sams Club icing. I didn't know you could but it. Awesome!

My question is how does it smooth? Is it easy can you use the same methods as if you made it yourself?

I can smooth the Sam's club frosting better than my home made frosting. It is also pure white!

I was going to buy the whipped icing once but, if I'm not mistaken, it has to be refrigerated and it does not last as long as the regular buttercream.

Sounds like the description of homemade buttercream as well, can't get any more greasy than crisco and butter along with all the powdered sugar. I had not tried wal-mart cakes before a couple weeks ago, I bought some mini cupcakes for the grandkids, I ate one too...and I was surprised icon_eek.gif, I liked the taste of the frosting, (vanilla) and since then I am of the mind to join Sams just to buy this frosting. I hate making icing, I like the bakers icing better ( not so sweet) but it does not crust, the family likes the sweet stuff.

I absolutely agree. I work full time and have 3 kids under 13 at home and it is so nice to be able to do a cake or cupcakes and not have to spend time making the frosting. Just dump a couple spoonfuls in the KA bowl add some flavoring and mix it up. It is fantastic! Worked great for when the neighbors moved in and I wanted to give them some "welcome" cupcakes. Didn't have to wait for the weekend because of all the extra time and cleanup. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I started this thread awhile back regarding Sam's and Walmart buttercream. I thought maybe someone might want to refer to this thread for unanswered questions. If I remember right we ended up discussing cost differences between bought and homemade.
