I will be making a two-tier cake for a halloween themed birthday party. I will be icing the cakes in orange and purple buttercream and will be piping cobwebs and spiders in black. My question is if black buttercream will bleed onto the orange and purple buttercream? Should I use black royal icing instead? Anything else I need to worry about?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

If you start with chocolate icing and tint that black you won't use a whole lot of black and it shouldn't bleed.

Oh good idea. Thanks. I'll do it that way.
