I have been asked to do an upright bottle cake for a birthday in the beginning of November, using a Captain Morgan Private Stock bottle as the model.

I know there are a few of you who have made 3-D bottle cakes, and I am hoping that you will share your best tip, warning, whatever, about doing this cake.

I am thinking of baking a 12"X3" square cake, then cutting it, stacking it, and carving it. The bottle frame is rectangular, with rounded corners.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance --
