I will be doing a football cake later this month and was thinking of using chocolate clay instead of fondant for a more realistic look. Have any of you every tried this?

I've not tried it but I have read about people doing it. Here's a bump for you.

I did it on my snowwhite cake, its a lot harder to work with, i suggest keeping it cold, by the time I rolled it out it was very soft, also I kinda wrapped it around rather than draped over the top. so I don't know if you could drape it and smooth it down like fondant.
