I have a job interview this afternoon with a new restaurant that is opening in our area. I'm really excited about this. I literally HATE my job. I work as a secretary in a construction company. I'm so tired of the office politics and there are only 3 employees in the office. The problem is is that the other two are mother/daughter and the mother is the ex-wife of the owner and the other is the daughter of the owner. I'm so tired of being cursed at, having to clean up the dog poop from their dogs and the rudeness of these people. That's only the short version. I don't even want to get into the rest of it.

My dream is to some day have my own restaurant and this is one step in the door for me. PLEASE keep your fingers crossed for me!

I just got into it with the mother. Of course, she's always right. I don't know what to do. I really need this job until I can find another one. She is very rude and mean to me. Please pray for me this weekend. I have a feeling that I won't have a job on Monday.

You're in my prayers...Job stress is not fun...Put your mind on the big picture of where you want to go in life and this will seem trivial...(I know that it won't now) Big Hugsssss

gilson6, How did the interview go? Lots of support and encouragement coming your way. Hang in with the current job regardless of the trials you face. Those trials will only strengthen you in the end.

I am so excited!!!

The interview went great. He wants me but he needs to talk to his brother-in-law. I would be in charge of the soup and salad area which is not really my area but I'LL LEARN!!!! The pay is less than what I'm making right now but we can handle it. The owner said that it would temporary until the restaurant really gets going. He was very impressed with my catering experience as well as the cake decorating. He is looking to improve their dessert offerings but right now is going with the basics. He'll be calling me on Monday to finalize everything!!!

Thank you so much for all your support and prayers. I had a very difficult day at work today. I cried for a good 30 minutes after my blow up. I'm not a very confrontational person but I can only take so much and I will blow! I'll let you guys know as soon as I hear something.

I got the job!!! I just received the phone call from the owner. I've been really down the last couple of weeks because I didn't hear from them. I'm very excited about the call but I'm also feeling a little apprehensive. My pay is dropping $5.00 an hour. That's $200.00 a week. He did say that after the New Year I would get a raise of $1.00. My position would kind of be a floater. I would fill in in every position. This is a great opportunity because I would be learning all the areas of the restaurant and not just one.

Now, I just have to give notice at my present job. That's a very scary prospect. They are not going to be happy at all!!!

That is really great news, congratulations! For what you have been tolerating on your present job, $5 is a small price to pay to get out of there. It is a great learning opportunity since you will get experience in all areas.

We'll be with you as you give notice to those awful people, just say good riddance to them and be happy! Janice

I agree with veejaytx--your state of mind and a better working environment will make up for the $5.00 per hr you'll be losing. Life's too short to be doing somenthing that makes you sooo unhappy! Good luck with the new job!

I did it! I talked with the daughter who is more my direct boss and who I don't have as many problems with as the mother. She was very understanding. My last day will be this Friday. Off to my new adventure. The only bad thing is that I won't be at a computer all day to keep up with my fix of CC icon_sad.gif! The hours are great though. I'll be home by 3:00 in the afternoon.

What a week! I'm totally exhausted but sooo happy! This is exactly what I love doing. I've been working 10 hour days which has been really hard on my feet. I've learned so much. They have put me as the assistant kitchen manager and are training me to eventually be a kitchen manager at one of the locations they are planning on opening in the next few years. The business is great. We are steadily serving more and more people every day. Thursday we served 127 and Friday we served 144. I haven't heard one cuss word all week - of course, the majority of the kitchen help is spanish so they might be cussing and I just can't understand what they are saying. Most importanly, I'm not cleaning up any dog mess!!!!

This is the first time I've been able to sit and have a moment to be on CC. By the time I get home I barely have enough energy to check my e-mail.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Restaurant work can be very exciting, long, stressful, rewarding, and did I say exciting? I have done it on and off (between being a SAHM and military) for 15 years, and keep going back. Once you get to know some of the regulars - when you HAVE regulars - it will be like seeing friends at work each day, but not enough to get sick of them. Get a good foot soak, and enjoy your new job!

This might be a good thing that you can't understand them then.
I'm so happy to hear that things are working out for you. Less pay for a better job is definetely worth it sometimes.
