Is the taste similar?

I finally got my hands on some Satin ice, what a difference from Wilton. I found it so much easier to roll out and the taste! Wow no comparison. It actually tastes great! It's a bit pricey, but I only do cookies so it should last awhile.

I haven't tried making the MMF yet. When I have some free time I want to try it.

I haven't tried the satin ice, but I have made the MMF and it is wonderful. If I had to give you an idea of taste, I would say those orange circus peanuts. Everyone that has tried it loves it. icon_biggrin.gif

I plan on playing with MMF this weekend for the first time. What recipe do you use AngD?

I just got some Satin Ice, too! WAY better than Wilton's! Which does everyone prefer? Satin Ice or MMF.

Oh, dear! I think those circus peanuts are in the nasty catagory. So Wilson's is worse than that. I'm waiting for the comment on Satin Ice. What about choco pan? If that's the name.

Christy_ob,
I used the MMF recipe on this site, the regular one not the quick one. Everyone loved it!

I used some SI on my cookies and the taste is very marshmallowy after it sits for a bit.

I use Satin ice for all my decorating. I Just dont have time to make pounds and pounds of MMF. (I go through roughly 10-15 lbs of Satin Ice a week) Everyone loves the flavor and I think it is EASY to work with!!

So, when doing cookies, how do you use the Satin Ice? Do you use the same cookie cutter and then somehow adhere the SI to the cookie?

Forgive me for asking what might be a question answered elsewhere on the forum. I just joined today! icon_biggrin.gif

I am interested in learning to make the decorated Toba Garrett type cookies. I did see Antonia74's post--are there more articles that can help me? Thanks!

I also love satin ice, pettinice is also very good, but I just discovered FondX, by CalJava and not only is it half the price, the taste is very much like SI,and I think it may even be better, and well, the price may make it taste even sweeter. icon_wink.gif

I made some today with MMF. I just had them cut out with the same cutter and put it on top of the cookie IMMEDIATLY after they came outta the oven. Then left them on the cookie sheet till cooled. I took one off too early and the fondant wrinkled. I've never tried the satin ice. This was my first try at the MMF on cookies.. I hafta say I like using Antonia's royal icing better. These with the MMF are just WAY too sweet for me. I had one and was like ugh... LOL (but of course the children LOVE them) It DOES have the circus peanut taste, but i cant really taste it when im eating it with the cookie. The picture is on my photo's here. I think i like doing cookies WAY better than cakes. LOL
