hello, I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a good way (other then blown sugar) to create the look of clear rocks? I know that you can buy some in the craft department at wal mart they look like ice cubes, but I was wondering if anyone had a good idea on a way I could make them myself?

Are these to be eaten? Im not really sure trying to make your own glass rocks for deco is a safe thing to do. I have never heard of any way to do them other than to buy them

what about rock candy or sugar candy. The sugar candy tends to have more of a yellowish tint to it.

no these won't be eaten I am hoping just to make some for decoration around a cake I am entering into the fair this weekend ... I wonder what would happen if I melted gelatin and then poured into ice cube trays?

Make the jello jiggler recipe which makes them almost the consistency of gummy candies...in a clear flavor..or unflavored gelatin. HTH

You could make them just like you make ice. This is courtesy of SweetResults: 1/2 c sugar and 1/2 c corn syrup, microwave for 3-4 minutes until sugar is dissolved. Don't let it start to turn color. Line a baking sheet with foil that has been crumpled and then straightened out and then pour your sugar on there. let set for about an hour or so.
