HI, I'M DOING MY FIRST WEDDING CAKE STARTING TOMORROW. I WILL BE USING THE 3 TIER CAKE & DESSERT STAND. I WILL BE DOING 12", 10" AND A 8". I WILL BE DOING 2" AND 2 OF EACH. MY QUESTION IS DO I NEED TO DOWEL THE 12" WITH THIS STAND? I KNOW THE 10" AND THE 8" SHOULD BE O.K. THEY WILL BE ROUND. THANKS

Is this the Wilton stand with the styrofoam base that the three pillars are inserted into? If so, I did a cake for my daughter's banquet the same sizes and didn't dowel them. Mine were each two layers with custard in the middle of each.

Not sure about the stand you are using but if any of the other cakes are going to sit on top of the 12 in cake then yes you need to dowel that cake. hth

Also you need to dowel the 10 inch if the 8 inch is going to sit on it too.

Is this the stand? If so, this is the one that I used and I didn't dowel any of them because each cake stands alone on the stand. But Sundine is correct. You do need to dowel if your 8 or 10 are sitting on top of the 12 and even if your 8 is going to sit on top of your 10.
