i am thinking some type of wire but im not sure what kind. i am making a spongebob themed cake for my nephew and i am wondering what i could use to help keep his arms bent a certain way and attaching them. if that makes sense. also for squidward would a dowel be ok to have him standing?? not sure if he is gonna be standing yet or laying on a beach chair. i am thinking i am gonna make spongebobs house and have spongebob, patrick, and squidward out front. i am also thinking about having the bubble stand out front from one of the episodes. the figures and house and stuff are made from candy clay and rice crispy treats. what is yalls opinions on any of this. any help????? oh all of this is going to be sitting on a sheet cake

For a recent barn cake I did I used gum paste for the geese legs. I colored them and allowed them to dry a head of time. Then when I made the body of the geese from fondant I carefully pushed the legs into the fondant. It worked out well, and they still stand on their own a month later. This would probably work for Sponge Bob's arms, you would be able to push it into candy clay, making a pilot hole first though. As for Squidward, depending on his size, toothpicks or skewers usually work well. (There's always royal icing too, you can discreetly "glue" them to the cake or attach them to the bubble stand.)
