in the musical Annie? I need to do a cake for a little girl that will be playing the part of Molly.........I cant find anything on line about her. ![]()
This is her going away cake before she leaves with the tour.......so I want to make it realllllly special!
Any ideas or advice would be great!
Thanks
Johnnie
she's one of the orphans....
that's it.
so.....
could do annie theme (gag)
could do suitcases (all packed up and ready to go)
could do a big ol' star shaped cake -- after all she just might be the star someday (they do often promote from within the orphans when the girl playing Annie outgrows the part)
could do Sandy (the dog)
she's one of the orphans....
that's it.
so.....
could do annie theme (gag)
double gag...I like Dougs idea of a star with the girls name on it and take Molly right on out of the equation
If you've seen the musical, Molly is the small girl who is Annie's best friend. In the beginning of the film, she's the cute little brunette who wakes up at the beginning of the movie having a nightmare about her parents. She has pretty big parts in all the orphanage songs. I think she's also the one that faints every time she sees Punjab (although I'm not positive).
I can't think of anything specific to that character, but for the cake you could do something with the Annie logo, the locket, the orphanage, etc. You could also do a Broadway marquee with the little girls' name (picture this centered, I couldn't get the center function to work):
JANE SMITH
starring as Molly in the smash musical
ANNIE
Good luck! (or break a leg, whatever)
That's all I've got!

Okay -- so I checked out your posts. G-A-S-P!!!
Soooo, with all your wonderful talent, (& a little spin from above) how about a Sheet Cake for the sidewalk, and then on top a "Star" as in a "Star on Hollywood" type complete with miniature handprints, and do one of your FANtastic free-hand paintings painted directly onto the star of your customer?
Just an idea.
I haven't posted a picture of it yet but my neice is really big into theater so I did a theater stage with the wood grain paneling and I did a strophone backdrop with fondant red curtains and in the center I said starring Hannah. She loved it.
She's the youngest orphan -the one Annie looks after.
You can maybe do a bucket with scrub brushes or a laundry hamper. Molly falls into the laundry hamper during the "It's A Hard Knock Life" song.
Good luck!
bad bad bad bad.....
ooooooo
never say that to a theatre person.....
such BAD luck!!!!
it's always
Break a leg!!!
(we theatre people are just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO superstitious!)

now, let's all go enjoy a performance of "That Scottish Play"
Molly was one of the youngest orphans. Hard to describe. Her line was always.."Oh my goodness...oh my goodness"...See if you can rent the movie from Blockbuster..Hollywood Video...she is definatley in the first few scenes. Short..she has mousy brown/black hair.
*she helped annie get in the laundry basket to escape the orphanage
*when the orphans were trying to get to annie, she had to be carried by another orphan becaue she got tired.
*scenes of her cleaning the orphange..stairs..toilet.
*opening scene...crying in the midle of the night in the bed because she wants a family and annie comes over to console her.
* *Can you tell I have seen the movie a FEW times?? ![]()
I know that is not much help...but "GOOD LUCK" and post picks.
She is the youngest of the orphans, and one Annie takes under her wing. She is featured mainly in the song and dance number "It's a hard knock life" I would think a scrub bucket and washcloth, maybe a chocolate transfer or cut out rolled fondant pieces of a little girl in a long apron and stockings.
Here is a You Tube Video of the movie, and the song "It's a hard knock life" Molly is the smallest child with long dark hair and bangs who imitates Miss Hannigan, and gets thrown into the laundry cart. Her name is Toni Ann Gisondi. The video kind of starts and stops, but it is still pretty cute.
