Ok they are not the best but this was my first attempt at mini cakes and fondant.

I made these tonight for my sister in laws birthday tomorrow. My back aches, my head hurts and it is 3:30 am. All I know is my brother better remember to have her home when I take them to her tomorrow! (more like later).

They are a very very moist chocolate cake (scratch) I took a hollow leg from a cake stand pushed it into the cake, this took out a cylinder shaped piece for me to fill it with twinkie filling. Then I took a little piece of what I pulled out and plugged the hole. The cake has chocoate icing (hersheys scratch) which is hard as he!! to cover with white fondant! The rest you can pretty well see.

The cake was so moist the every time I touched the little boogers they became deformed but I know she will like them, she is a sweet one.

By the way,
Can I put these in the freezer or fridge with the fondant (MMF) on them?

Thanks

They look great!

Not too sure about the fridge thing.... but you might find the fondant goes sticky and slimey in the fridge. icon_eek.gif

Now go to bed and get some well deserved sleep thumbs_up.gif

I am sure your sister in law will love your little cakes. They are really cute. I don't refrigerate my fondant. I think they should be fine left out until tomorrow.

Thanks all!

I took them last night to their house and mom and dad came over. My husband even drove an hour out of his way from work to come! He knew it was excited about giving them to her since they were a suprise!

They all loved them. My family is always very supportive of whatever I do though!

Pam (SIL) is a little bidy timid thing, she was 42 yesterday and her eyes just lit up when I put them on the table. She was so excited.

She immediately got out some paper plates and forks and grabbed one and dug in. I don't think a heard of wild bulls could have pulled that away from her.

It was my first time making MMF and I told her that she could peel off the fondant if she wanted to but she dug in and LOVED it.

Mom was not going to eat any since she had not eaten dinner yet but Dad made her taste it and she grabbed one and scarfed it down then wrapped up two to take home. LOL she ate mine. I hear they were wonderful though, I just didn't get to taste it!

BTW the MMF recipe that I found here on CC called for 8 cups of cake sugar. How do you get 8 cups to mix in. I had a heck of a time getting 4 cups in and left it at 4 cups. The consistancy was great and the taste was pretty good as well. Hubby said it tastes like the little circus peanuts (orange marshmallow candy) that you buy.
