Has anyone seen this site? Is there a secret to doing this besides buying the 15.00 bag of patented icing?

I have this icing and i love it, and a little goes a long way. Well worth my $13.25 (at sugarcraft.com). It is so flexible and neat. I do save it though for "special occations." I would one day when I am a pro like to get the fancy dispencer and really see what it can do.

When you create the design you will let it dry for about 30 minutes (depending on the humidity). You can apply it directly to the cake but I like to use parchment paper greased with crisco so I can copy a design on the underside of the parchment paper. After its dried slightly it is still flexible and you can twist, drape, etc.... It does end up drying brittle. I love it - its great fun!

What a shame. They say if you haven't used something for 6 months or more, that means you'll never use it. So, mail it over to me! I'll pay for shipping icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I recently purchased the system and it is AWESOME! It tastes similar to a meringue, but a totally different texture! If you haven't tried it, it is worth it!

Yes i just used a regular tip for piping. The website really demonstrates its unique uses. It is one of those things that when you need it, you need it. there is no substitute.

I seriously doubt you can make it at home. If you do figure it out please let me know!!!

I was in my local cake shop earlier this week and they had just been to ICES where one of them watched a demo on it and brought some of it and a dvd showing how to use it back.

They were watching the promotional DVD when I came in...the stuff they showed was amazing! and it looked quite simple (could be the magic of television here??)

Anyway, they are going to start selling it soon so I'll be able to pick some up and give it a try soon too!

I've had the dispenser and icing since last December and love it -- especially for writing, monograms, swiss dots. All the writing done on my cakes in my gallery have been done with SugarVeil. You definitely don't need the dispenser, a bag works fine, but it does make it a little easier. I especially like the ability to use the air pen to pick up dots, dragees and place on cake without using my fingers. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

I mentioned the sugar veil system to my husband one time and like a month later he surprised me with the whole system. I have yet to try the actual icing. But i use the dispenser for making my CTs and some buttercream decorations. I LOVE it. But i see a few of you are looking for a recipe to make the icing at home. I haven't tried this either but i found this here on CC a little while back and thought i'd share it.
Sugar Veil Recipe
3 egg whites
1tbsp Cream of Tartar
2lbs powdered sugar
1pkg knox gelatin (dissolved in a little bit of water)
2 cups marshmallows (melted)
**mix the first 3 ingredients together for 10 min. as if making royal....then add the gelatin, then the marshmallows...beat until its stiff enough to pipe (maybe 5 more min or so)

Ok, next question.............

Could anyone please tell me how many ounces or grams 1pkg knox gelatin is please.

Is it just normal gelatin or is there something special about it???

Might ignore the family tonight and let the addiction take over.

one packet of unflavored gelatin is 7 grams (1/4 oz.) I beleive Knox is just a brand name for unflavored gelatin.
