I'm going to be using piping gel for the first time this weekend. My customer wants me to make a Juicy Couture logo (a crown and a banner). Any tips or things I should watch out for?
When I outline the logo with piping gel on the wax paper, does the whole thing transfer or does it leave a slight impression of the piping gel?
Does the icing on the cake have to be cooled or can I do it right away?
Thanks for helping! ![]()
i would definitely have the icing cool.......I like to let my icing crust a bit too......the whole thing doesn't transfer but you will get a thin layer of piping gel that WILL transfer to the cake (that's what you would use as your guide for making the design).....also when you're done piping on the wax paper I find it best to let the piping gel sit for a bit to stiffen up somewhat........especially if its warm out....it will keep it from spreading and leaving big gobs of it on your cake......the idea is to give you some guidelines to follow for the design NOT to cover the cake in piping gel lol
you could cover the design with the piping gel to get the stained glass effect, I think it will work too for logo. pls see my cake photo for baptism. HTH.
