Has anyone ever succeeded in getting their fondant pitch black?

I have to make a witch cake for halloween and I just can't make my fondant or b/c black. (I've been practicing alot!!!) icon_mad.gif

I get sort of a smokey grey or pewter color? What's the secret?

I wanna cry. icon_cry.gif

Try adding some cocoa powder first to get the fondant a nice brown then add black coloring. In my experience, adding cocoa powder makes the fondant more susceptible to cracks, but it should be fine if you are just making fondant accents.
