Like in this picture from the 2006 Mid-Atlantic Cake Show, how would I get the fondant flowers in the fondant without the seams? Are the flowers being "rolled" into the fondant? Or is there some other technique used?

Thanks for the help!

I THINK they cut the shape out of the fondant thats on the cake and insert the blue flower into the hole that was created. I thought I saw something like that in some tutorial I was watching somewhere once that I can't even remotely recall.... icon_rolleyes.gif

I agree with Alana. The flowers are cut after the fondant is placed on the cake and the hole is plugged with another colored fondant using the same cutter. Smooth the seams gently with a finger moistened with Crisco.

or do you think they covered at least part of the tea pot in blue fondant and carefully cut out the flower shape exposing the blue underneath?

the "tea" is probably pulled sugar.

pretty cool.

I think if they did that you would see a the underlying fondant raising the surface of the green.
